Standard Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboard

Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboard™ is an exciting wooden tabletop game that utilizes Kineti-Go’s Magnetic Propulsion Technology™. In spirit, Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboard™ is similar to foosball, air hockey, and pool, only more evolved. We consider it to be a next generation table game, but you may want to think of it as the spunky grandkid of the classic wooden table game. Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboards can be found in family game rooms, frat house game rooms, and pubs across the country.

Kineti-Go’s proprietary Magnetic Propulsion Technology™ is a tactile game play system that we developed in 2004. The system consists of wooden magnetic pucks and a wooden magnetic shooter. The shooter is elliptical in shape with a slot cut though the bottom for the puck to be pulled into. The slot is just wider and higher than the puck. Since both the shooter and puck are configured to be the same polarity, a magnetic tension builds up as the puck is pulled into the shooter. The further the puck is pulled into the shooter, the stronger the magnetic tension will be, hence, the stronger the shot will be. When the puck is released from the slot, the shooter repels the puck down the wooden game table. Since the slot for the puck is long and straight, the shot is effectively riffled toward the scoring areas on the board. The player has total control over both the strength and placement of the shot. Since the pucks are all the same polarity, they will repel each other when they enter another pucks magnetic field. Players can easily add spin on the pucks as the release them as well, making the pucks carom to harder to reach places on the game board.

Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboard™ is played by launching magnetic pucks down the two foot by four foot wooden tabletop game board. Players take turns shooting their “pucks” (wood-encased magnets) from the horse-shoe shaped “shooter”, jockeying for placement in the highest of Kineti-Go’s three point zones while also strategically placing their pucks to prevent their opponent from scoring. Players start a round with three pucks, either dark or light, and alternate shots until all six pucks have been played. Once all six pucks are on the table, each player tallies his/her score and marks in on the abacus located on the sideboard. Players alternate who goes first each round. The first player to reach twenty points, without going over, is the winner.

As with any good table game, there is an infinite variety of shots that can be made by an experienced player. Advanced players usually have an arsenal of different shooting techniques. In addition, once a player becomes familiar with how the pucks repel and move each other, they will “weave” their pucks through the magnetic fields of other pucks to get to a desired spot on the board. In appearance, the puck will do s-curves, arcs, and a variety of other strange movements without ever making contact with another puck.

Each Kineti-Go Magnetic Shuffleboard tabletop game has seven strong magnets embedded in the sidewalls which repel pucks as they approach. Five of these magnets are placed in the far side corners of the game table. These five magnets will give an approaching puck a strong push back across the playing area towards the “3”s when a player takes a bank shot. The other two embedded magnets are positioned where the sidewall begins to taper near the bottom of the “3”s. These magnets protect the 3 from a direct shot, and also help to contain a wrap around bank shot often used by more advanced players.

Each Kineti-Go tabletop shuffleboard game is two feet wide by four feet long, and constructed of natural, eco-friendly wood. The playing surface on each game is painstakingly finished with multiple coats of polyurethane giving it a perfect combination of playability and durability. One game comes with everything you need to play. All of the magnetic pucks are made from the highest-grade magnets which are encased in domestic hardwoods so they can endure the fast-paced action of a typical Kineti-Go game. Six pucks come standard with each game (3 walnut and 3 maple). Additional pucks may be purchased. The magnetic "shooter", used by players to launch the pucks down the board, is constructed of domestic hardwood and the highest-grade magnets available. One shooter is included with each game. Additional shooters may be purchased.
